Many of the photographs on the site have been taken by guests staying in the Old Stables cottage and hopefully reflect the enjoyment that they and their dogs and horses have had while staying in this lovely part of West Wales.  One of the guests not only provided a lovely photo for the website, but also did a beautiful painting of Tess – which is shown on this page, the link to Janet’s website is  For more photos have a look at the Old Stables Cottage Facebook page. Beautiful, peace, bright stars, good beach walks, sound of the waves.  So dog friendly.  Best bucket list for our 2.  Thank you.

Ady & Sue and Endeavour, Maxwell & Ceilidh
What a wonderful relaxing, peaceful location.  Cottage is very comfortable, well equipped.  We had friends for lunch and they were very impressed.  Gareth’s vegetables were superb and much appreciated.  Thank you for everything.

Helen, Sue & Shirley and Gilbert, Bentley, Ned, Phizz & Meg
Super cottage, thank you so much for providing our most ideal holiday home.  Well equipped, clean and secure garden and comfy beds.  Liz is friendly and welcoming.  Llansteffan has a lovely beach followed by coffee at the Croft – watch the food prices though!  The beach at Ginst point is vast and great for the dogs, open weekends and after 4.30 weekdays.  Colby Woods is a must for off lead dog walks.  Can’t wait to come back to SJHF Old Stables Cottage xx

Jude & Neil and Pearl, Muttley & Jeanie
We got lucky with the weather, didn’t expect to, but every time we went out it dried up.  Went back to Rosilli Beach, we brought Jewl’s ashes, but still haven’t parted with them.  Thanks for the veg – roast marrow – delicious!! Can recommend the Fox and Hounds at Bancyfelin if you like homemade food and friendly service.  Wiseman’s Bridge Inn also a favourite of ours.  Fab 2 weeks as always, never get tired of this place and never want to go home, but we shall see you again in June and October 2020.  Fully relaxed and wound right down.  Glad to see Gareth on the mend and hopefully I will be back to full vision soon and see the new look garden xxxx

Thank you for provising such a wonderful place to stay with 7 dogs, everything needed is provided and we managed to really relax and chill with the dogs, which normally we can’t do as well in a week.  Very peaceful (except when our dogs were barking for much for which I apologise!)  Ginst Point is wonderful for the Danes to really stretch their legs.  It has given our 15½ year old collie Izzy a new bounce in her legs!  Have told all about this place to all my friends with dogs.  Hope we can come back again.

Pam, Rod, Sue & Pete and Freddie, Millie, Bramble, Corsa, Tweed and Thea
Enjoyable week.  Beach at Ginst Point fabulous.  Great Place for dogs to stay.  Sue enjoyed her ride on Horlicks.  Hope to be back soon.

Mags & Gary and Holly, Ross, Skye, Robbie, Finlay, Murray, Flora, Fergus, Isla, Brodie & Haimish
Another lovely week in this super place.  It is so peaceful (except for our dogs barking).  It is perfect to relax and unwind.  The view from the conservatory is amazing and I could spend the whole week just looking at it.  Roll on next year – Thanks as always Liz.

Wendy, Aid, Luke & Elle and Rokit, Nitro and Eilsa
Liz and Gareth, what an amazing place you have here!  From the Second we got here we have all been able to just relax.  We have never been to such fantastic accommodation that caters for the dogs the way you do.  We also loved the fresh organic veg, which made some tasty dinners!  By far the best holiday we have had in a long time thank you xxx
The places we loved the most, Ginst Point, Tenby Island Cruise, Chilling in the cottage, Carmarthen shopping girls day out.

Bob & Gill and Dime, Thio (WWP), Lexie, Lola, Phobe and Poppy (WWP)
Another fabulous two weeks.  Sunshine and showers, but no matter what the weather is like, we have a great holiday.  Many thanks to our wonderful hosts, Liz and Gareth – the organic veg has been thoroughly enjoyed!  See you in January 2020! Xxx

Andy, Claire, Abbie & Amy and Jasper
Really enjoyed our second trip here!!  Fantastic, relaxing holiday.  Loads of lovely walks and the weather was great.  Thanks so much Liz and Gareth for welcoming us (and for all the veg and music).  See you next year.

David & Edie and Lily & Cecilia
This has been a nice restful stay with our daughter and family including granddaughter.  The two dogs really felt at peace and comfortable in the cottage and hope to return next year when we can get some dates sorted out.  Friendly area in general with nice little private beach not far up the road.  Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.

Zoe, Richard & Clara and Maestro, Bonnie & Mr Bumble
We had a fabulous stay and look forward to returning in the future.  Bonnie enjoyed her first holiday with our family and loved the chance to get her paws in the sand.  Clara (our toddler) had a great time running around the garden with her furry family and was absolutely besotted with the horses.  Best holiday we have had in a long time!

Jim & Jane and Katey, Candy & Bunty
Had a lovely 2 weeks, which went too quickly.  Lovely and quiet, very relaxing.  Laugharne is a lovely town with lovely restaurants to eat.  Lovely walks for the dogs and lovely beaches.  The cottage is lovely with everything that you need and the weather has been very good, as this has been our first visit.

Julie & Simon and Bonita and Fernando
This was our first stay here and our first trip to Wales. Simon works nights and I work days, so we don’t get a lot of time together, so it’s been nice to spend time chilling and walking the dogs. Bonita and Fernando, our Spanish rescue Podencos, have had a great time running on the beaches and across the fields. They got straight out of the garden and disappeared (they are a hunting breed, so have a very high prey drive), so they had to be supervised in the garden at all times, but I was expecting that. Bonita managed to cut all of her feet on a waterfall, so couldn’t do much for the last couple of days! My personal highlight was having a riding lesson on the gorgeous Horlicks, who was so patient with my complete lack of ability. The home grown potatoes were lush too! Overall it has been a holiday full of sun, dogs and laughter ….. what more can you ask for?!

Ray & Susan and Luther, Doug, Murphy, Cloud, Ronni & Reg
Had a lovely week.  Lovely cottage, friendly town and great scenery.  Beaches are gorgeous.  Thank you.

Steve, Tina, Les & Rose and Claude, Alfred, Oscar, Gina, Goldie and Janet
We had an amazing week, the weather wasn’t too bad. We had lovely beach walks every night, which the dogs loved. We also went to Brechfa Forrest in Abergorlech, which was such a beautiful walk and the dogs loved it. This is such a beautiful, dog friendly place and the dogs were very relaxed. Thanks Liz for the dog treats, such a lovely touch. We will definitely be back next year. Can’t rate this place highly enough, 10 out of 10.

Jude & Neil and Pearl, Muttley and Jean
Celebrating our 10th year here, sadly without Jewl, who loved coming here, but we had nearly 20 years with her and have wonderful memories of her in all her favourite places, Ginst, Scotts Bay, Rhossili etc etc. It was Jean Jeanies first time and deffo a big 4 paws up that she has loved every minute of it. We first came with Jewl, Ruby and Buddy, then Stacey and now Pearl and Muttley who have been showing Jean all the best places to walk, sniff, play and eat. Mixed weather, but that doesn’t bother us. Fun in the sun or cosy in the cottage reading when it is raining. Cannot wait for our 2 weeker in October. Willing Gareth to get better xxxxx Thank you xx

Jo & Paul and Kano, Emilio, Matilda, Tulip and Jackie Chan
Another fantastic week comes to an end. A week of pure relaxation, just what we needed. We think it may be Kano’s last holiday and he loves it, so thank you x. Feel so sad to leave, it’s our favourite place. See you next year.

Karen & Alan and Bear, Rum, Raisin & Bramble
This was our first stay here in this beautiful cottage.  Such a relaxing atmosphere.  The locals are so friendly and very welcoming of our 4 dogs.  Our dogs have had a fantastic time – we have been to the amazing beach, the Birthday Walk and the forest.  The weather has been lovely sunshine every day, so we have been able to sit in the garden after a day out and just relax with a glass of wine till the sun sets.  Liz and Gareth are the most friendly, helpful, caring couple you could meet.  We can’t wait to return – we are coming back in December for Christmas here – already counting down the days!  For now though it is back home to reality, but we feel our batteries are recharged and don’t think our dogs want to go home, they have had the best time ever – quality time together.  Thank you so very much.

Paul & Julie and Meghann & Daisy
Had a simply fantastic time, no worrying about where the dogs could go and the places we visited were pretty dog friendly too.  Definitely be back again.  Thank you so much!!!

Sean, Rachel, Jake & Flynn nad Bobby & Canela
Our first visit.  We had a lovely week and enjoyed quality family time together with our two dogs, Bobby & Canela.  Our thanks to Liz for being so welcoming and looking after us, we have booked again for 2020!!

Di & Maree and Bracken, Jack and Digby
The three dogs and two humans had a lovely break.  We had to dodge April showers and icy hailstones, but so good to return to a warm, comfortable cottage.  The dogs loved Ginst Point and Pendine Sands and also enjoyed a woodland walk along the stream at Colby Woodland Gardens.  We would certainly love to return.

Sheila & Tony and Tilly
What a wonderful place to spend a relaxing week away.  A little sightseeing (Llansteffan, St David’s and Laugharne itself) with some wonderful walks for Tilly and Sheila and excellent meals at the Portreeve and Arthurs.  As Tony is disabled and we couldn’t bring his mobility scooter, we hired one from Carmarthen so he could get around the immediate area and when we visited places.  Also the Old Stables was easy for him to manage with his walking frame.  Liz and Gareth could not have been more welcoming and the vegetables were delicious.  Altogether a wonderful break with unexpectedly fabulous weather, spectacular views, comfortable cottage and most of all the silence and lack of light pollution at night.  Thank you

Mags & Gary and Holly, Rossw, Skye, Robbie, Finlay, Murray, Flora, Fergus, Isla, Brodie and Hamish
Another lovely week in this wonderful cottage.  The weather has not been good, but it really does not matter as it is so relaxing and peaceful.  The addition of free wi-fi is a great extra.  Thanks Liz and Gareth for always being so welcoming.  Roll on September and our next visit.

Catrin, Mike & Rhys and Sionny & Siae
The cottage is amazing.  The website looks good, but the actual place is so much better!  It has everything you need and more besides.  It is by far the nicest, friendliest place we have ever stayed.  The views are breathtaking and it really is doggy heaven.  We would love to come back again.  Thank you so much xxx

Jo & Paul and Sam, Lulu & Milo
We’ve really enjoyed our short break, even with typical January weather!  Sam looks sad that we’re packing to go home – he’s loved going to new places and has particularly enjoyed sleeping in his favourite armchair!  We hope to come back in the future.  A truly lovely. Homely cottage, and lots of interesting places to visit nearby.  Thank you for everything.  Particularly love the décor and interesting little decorative items.

Bob & Gill and Dime, Archiebelle, Thio, Lola, Phoebe and Poppy
Happy New Year.
A wonderful 2 weeks as always!  We return to the Old Stables time and time again – can there possibly be a better located, more dog friendly cottage anywhere?  Thank you Liz and Gareth for your great hospitality.  See you in August! xxx

Sacha & Louise and Blue, Summer, Meg, Otto, Ollie & Jasper
F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C., best dog friendly ever.  Lovely hosts.  Will be back!!

Chris, Paul & Sharon and Tammie, Myles, Nugget, Pups, Purdy, Howie & Teddy
Wow!! What a super holiday.  Superb location, fab cottage, 1st holiday for the dogs, thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Just great to see them running free on the beach, especially my lurcher Purdy (can’t do that at home).  We’ve had a fantastic week, weather has been very kind.  Thanks Liz, we will be back.

Jude & Neil and Pearl, Muttley and Jewl
Said it all before 17 times – fantastic, wonderful, love this place and as we head home cannot wait to come back for our 10th year in June and October.  We always find something new to do.  We went to Caerphilly Castle, it’s a 1½ hour drive and a fantastic castle, but the town of Caerphilly surrounding the castle was a bit scruffy and the views not as good as Kidwelly Castle.
Walking along Pembrey beach right round to Bury Port on a brilliant warm day with Pearl and Muttley with views of the Gower and Worms Head – superb.  Thanks for all the delish veg and potatoes, yummy.  Hope you had a brill time in Spain, we are going to see the Coral in Manchester tomorrow night. Xxx
If anyone wants a delicious meal the Fountain Inn has changed hands, and the food is beautiful – fresh salmon, Sea Bass, Cod etc.  Dining room only small, so best to book a table.  The best food for miles around and its dog friendly and the staff are lovely.
Ps  Did not know Tommy Cooper was born in Caerphilly – JUST LIKE THAT  ha ha

Mags & Gary and Holly, Ross, Robbie, Murray, Flora, Fergus, Skye & Finlay
Yet another lovely stay, the weather has been kind and the cottage is just perfect as always.  This stay we have also been provided with home grown veg – which was a lovely surprise.  This is the perfect place for the dogs and for us to have a well earned rest.  We have already booked for 2019 and 2020 and the next visit cannot come quick enough.  Thanks Liz and Gareth as always.

Kate & Angie and Duff, Luna, Izzy & Pip
The best dog friendly cottage ever!  Liz and Gareth you are so welcoming and we really appreciated your hospitality.  Have never had a mushroom like it!!  Will definitely be back – thank you so much.

Bob & Gill and Archiebelle, Dime, Belle, Uno, Lola, Phoebe, Thio & Poppy
Another fantastic week.  Thanks again Liz & Gareth for your amazing hospitality.  We’re all looking forward to seeing you again in December xxx

Charlotte, Bob & Laurie and Luna & Ragsie
A great 6 day stay, wish it was longer, the weather was kindish to us, really recharged our batteries, best dog friendly place we have found and a lovely quiet part of Wales in the madness of August.  We will return.  Thanks for the hospitality Liz and Gareth great hosts x

Pat & Doug and Bechan, Rhianna, Rosie, Ieuan & Nerys
Many thanks Liz and Gareth for your warm welcome.  Your cottage is certainly the best dog friendly place that we have ever stayed in.  We all had a wonderful time and would love to return next year.

Claire, Andy, Abbie & Amy and Jasper
We have had a fantastic week.  Lots of lovely walks and also relaxing!! We were made very welcome and what a lovely cottage!! With beautiful views all around.  Thanks for a lovely week, looking forward to next year. (ps thanks Liz for the potatoes, onions and doggy treats).

Carole & Paul and Mitch, Mabel & Dexter
Wow, lovely week, dogs thought we had brought them to winter!.  Lots of wind, rain and thunder, but the most amazing rainbow on the beach.  Dogs loved the beach walks with no-one else on there!  Days out to Pendine, Saundersfoot and Amroth Woodland walks.  Food – the chippy by the castle 10/10, Arthurs were wonderful with the dogs and spuds off Liz with butter and garlic, yum, yum!  The little gift shop Choices was my only shopping, lovely lady.  My fav thing though has to be the loo with a view!!!  We’ll be back xxx

Martin & Kath and Rolo, Rattus, Sam and Reggie
Another lovely week spent in your cottage.  Brilliant weather, lovely walks and everything our dogs could ask for.  Shaded walks in the woods when it was too hot, which the dogs love.  Many thanks Liz and Gareth.

Paul & Jo and Kano, Emilio, Matilda and Tulip
Well what can I say??  We have had a lovely relaxing week (much needed).  Wonderful weather all week, we couldn’t ask for more.  We loved watching the fighter jets fly over, that was a highlight.  Till the next time.

Gwen & John and Angelina, Christina, Tinks and Buster
Had yet another fabulous holiday, 2 weeks this time, so much to see and do.  The dogs loved it here, wore them out with all the lovely walks.  See you again in November, can’t wait xxx

Jude & Neil and Pearl and Muttley and Jewl – aged 18 and 10 months!
Is Jewl the oldest dog that has stayed here? Another fab week and can’t wait to come back in October – with Jewl – everything crossed.  Perfect weather for some, but Jewl suffered, she made it to Carew, Ginst and Llansteffan with the help of us and slept in the beautiful garden under the tree.  Happy times with Baddington (aka Pearl) and Sodface (aka Muttley) on Pembrey, Ginst, Pendine etc, etc.  Great food from Lotus, the New Inn and Spring Well, now back to the diet again!! See you October xxxx

Carole & Rob and Hairy & Bella
Hairy doesn’t love the travelling, but he loves this place and all the friends he has made.  Bella lurcher says thank you for your dogs’ help with her socialisation (and Zoomies).  Liz – you set the highest standard of dog friendliness.  We will never find a better place for a holiday with our whole pack.  5 stars are not enough – make it six! ****** We have enjoyed a Welsh heatwave.  Ginst Beach is great for lurcher Zoomies.  Colby is very dog friendly too and great for dogs who have got too hot and need a shady walk with a stream to drink from.  Aberglasney garden is a delight for the two-footed, but leaving the mutts back here.  Thank you all for a lovely, relaxing break.

Tina & Adam and Jake, Archie, Lou, Lola, Paisley, Pixie, Bailey, Buddy, Oakley, Sully, Fred & Stanley
Another wonderful holiday as always.  Just gets harder to leave each time.  Weather beautiful for two weeks.  Lots of lovely walks and quality time with the doggies.  See you all in October xxx

Sue & Brian and Maisie, Patsie & Mollie
A wonderful cottage and so dog friendly.  Fantastic beaches & walks from the cottage, the dogs don’t want to go home, even the weather was good, so unexpected.  Will definitely return next year.  Thank you Liz and Gareth.

Elaine, Francis and Gareth
Another lovely stay!  Don’t want to leave.  Looking forward already to our return. Xx

Mags & Gary and Holly, Ross, Skye, Robbie, Finlay, Murphy, Flora & Fergus
We were here only a month ago, but we love it so much that we took advantage of the cottage being vacant at Easter and popped back for the weekend.  To sit in the conservatory and look at the view in the sunshine on Saturday was the icing on the cake.  Thanks Liz as always.  Roll on September.

Catherine & Elaine and Rufus & Tilly
A wonderfully relaxing break away in a wonderful setting.  So refreshing to have such a dog friendly environment.  Great walks, great town, great views, great cottage, cracking weekend.  Thank you – you may well see us again!!

Mags & Gary and Holly, Ross, Skye, Robbie, Finlay, Murphy, Flora & Fergus
Yet another great stay in this fabulous cottage.  It is a home from home and so relaxing, everyone is so friendly.  Thanks for all your help and for a wonderful holiday.  Looking forward and counting the weeks until September.

Debbie & Frank and Star, Solly & Tanya
We felt at home as soon as we walked through the door.  Such a warm, welcoming cottage, despite the freezing temperatures outside.  Laugharne is a delightful place and we very much hope to return soon.  Thank you Liz.

Chris & Cheryl and Imkie and Gimly
We were all charmed by this beautiful cottage and setting!  This was our first holiday with our dogs and we were bowled over by how simple and relaxed it was – of course all down to this being such a dog friendly and people welcoming couple, Liz and Gareth.  Thank you very much x

Bob & Gill and Susie, Uno, Archiebelle, Lola, Phoebe, Dime, Thio & Belle
We’ve all thoroughly enjoyed our holiday.  Can’t think of anywhere better to start 2018.  Thank you Liz and Gareth.  See you in August!! xxx

Sue & Gareth and Rosy
A lovely stay. Thank you very much.  Rosy loved the walks on the beaches and we liked the few days of peace and quiet.

Peter, Vanessa, Deborah & John and Koko, Koopa, Komet & Ringo
Well, if Stables were good enough for JC on his birthday – they are good enough for us!!  I bet Joseph and Mary didn’t have to put up with driving rain and wild winds – but if they did, I hope their stables were as cosy and draught free as these!!  What a warm and welcoming place to stay – friendly village pubs, great walks for the hounds and the pleasure of watching them destroy squeaky toys and wrapping paper.  Thank you for providing such a dog friendly place to spend Christmas.  PS  Happy birthday Jesus – I hope you blew all your candles out in one puff!!

Jenny & Mark and Rio & Hugo
Lovely stay, Liz and Gareth made us feel very at home.  Great views when the sun shone and also lovely and cosy when the wind blew and the rain came down.  Dogs 1st holiday by the sea, they and us loved every minute of our stay.  We will come again.

Peter & Sharon and Ringo, Rizzo, Ritzy, Radar, Rebel, Rocky & Poppy
A great time had by us and the “Fleagles”.  Wish we could all still stay.  Many thanks and see you next year.

Linda & Peter and Rudi
Wonderful, peaceful and dogs’ paradise as well as humans’ paradise!  Thank you Liz, you have been very welcoming. x

Carol and Lace, Cariad, Magic & Polyanna
A rather challenging start to our week with Storm Brian causing some appalling weather!  Nevertheless, the cottage remains a cosy haven and the hospitality unfailingly excellent as always.  Thanks Liz and Gareth – see you in March x

Tina & Adam and Jake, Archie, Louie, Lola, Paisley, Pixie, Bailey, Buckly, Oakley, Sully, Freddie & Stanley
Another amazing holiday at the Old Stables Cottage.  It just gets better and better.  Our rescue dog Pixie had only been with us 3 weeks prior to the holiday.  This holiday has been amazing for her settling her into the family.  Thanks for everything Liz.  See you in January x

Jude & Neil and Jewl, Pearl and Muttley
Our 18th visit and looking forward to coming again next year.  We always find something new to do.  This time it was going to the Gower Peninsula and Worms Head – it’s a 1 ½ hour drive, but well worth it – so dramatic, will never ever forget that one.  Gwili steam railway, brought back so many wonderful childhood memories and the people who run it were bloody brilliant.  Jewl 18 years and 2 months, so proud of her!!  Walked everywhere with us and we have fantastic pictures to treasure.  Pearl and Muttley enjoyed being farm dogs.  Lovely to see Barney, Binky and Tilly – Binks having breakfast with us.  See you next June – hope like hell Jewl too xxxxx

Mags & Gary and Holly, Ross, Skye, Robbie, Finlay, Murray, Flora & Fergus
Our 4th year in the fantastic cottage, it just gets better every year.  Total relaxation.  The addition of the sofa in the conservatory is great and allows you to sit in comfort and take in the fabulous view which changes with the weather.  Sadly the weather has not been too good this year, but the cottage is so perfect it really does not matter.  Thank you Liz as always.

Gary & Barbara and Taz and Dylan
Many thanks for a lovely holiday.  Great cottage, lovely views.  Very restfull.  Sorry we had to leave at short notice due to problems back home, but will be back next year and many more years to come.  Dogs enjoyed themselves too.  Thanks Liz & Gareth.

Jason, Sarah & Imogen and Leo, Amber, Smudge, Alfie & Baxter
Had an amazing time in Wales.  The cottage was brilliant and our dogs loved it and all the walks on the beaches.  Loved Tenby and Pembroke Castle is well worth the visit as well as the wine tasting at Cwm Derri.

Moira & Ian and Kes, Kai, Moss, Taffy and Jack
A home from home for us and the dogs – beautiful views, lovely beaches – especially Freshwater West and fantastic weather.  Very peaceful and an ideal place to recharge the batteries.  Hope to come again! xxx
